Treeline, together with Systra, White and Rundquist, has developed a programme document for Uppsala light rail. The purpose of the assignment has been to analyse the project from all aspects: infrastructure, vehicles, systems, landscape and urban image, impacts, traffic management, capital and operating costs, etc. and to make recommendations for future phases.

The programme document will be used as a basis for a future contracting procedure for the final design and construction of the light rail. Uppsala is one of Sweden’s most expanding municipalities and is expected to have around 340,000 inhabitants by 2050. This expansion, together with the objectives of sustainable development, means that a new strong public transport system is needed.
